Accessibility recommendations for visual and memory impairments
Mobile App:
- Semantic text for screen reading.
- Make app compatible with-Android TalkBack option for screen readers.
- use 7:1 contrast ratio
- photographs should be well exposed with good contrast.
- Zoom to points on the map to enlarge.
- Avoid splitting tasks across multiple screens.
- Make use of clear, obvious “breadcrumbs” that allow the user to easily navigate back to where they were.
- Use a “home” button.
- Use clear, simple language text elements.
- Use positive language. As with printed materials, use a limited number of key points.
Printed Material:
- Large/bold font, off white background.
- Wide margins
- extra line spacing.
- Elements with large headings grouped together.
- White space around elements.
- Content Styling–ie, make element headings larger and bolder a different color than any paragraph text.
- Be clear and direct.
- Do not use jargon or complicated language.
- Use a limited number of Key Points.
- Use high contrast and keep the background
- plain background to avoid distractions.
(Was not sure if I should make the recommendations for each specific person, or just group them the way I have. Willing to change it.)
