Small digital development team roles and responsibilities: 

 

Project Manager:

 

  • Developing project plan, timeline, and budget
  • Ensuring that the timelines for all phases of the projects are met
  • Making sure the project is on or under set budget
  • implementing and ensuring that deadlines are met
  • Frequent communication with team members to discuss changes, address problems and challenges, and find appropriate solutions to those challenges 
  • Delegating responsibilities and tasks 
  • Managing 
  • Working with the account manager on client proposals  and cost/time estimates.
  • Managing the scale and scope of the project 

 

Account Manager: 

  • Overseeing Client needs 
  • Developing new clients
  • Writing proposals  
  • Selling products and services to clients
  • Communicating with Clients and writing reports 
  • Preparing presentations and sales propositions
  •  Designing client marketing strategies 
  • Communicating with other team members about Clients goals and agenda.
  •  Works with content writer to develop written digital content that is consistent with client branding and to develop SEO strategy
  • Planning and developing a marketing strategy 
  •  Overseeing  Media accounts 
  • Tracking SEO and using analytics tools to analyse data and make necessary adjustments to the online marketing strategy
  • Creating and implementing a marketing strategy to attract clients to the agency

 

UX designer: 

  • Responsible for designing and implementing a User Experience strategy
  • Works with clients to identify and  understand the types of problems they want to solve, and developing strategies for solving those problems. 
  • Works with the Account Manager on client marketing and desired or established branding
  • Ensuring useability and functionality of a product through extensive testing and user research
  • Considers how users will interact with a product 
  • Organizing information and content within the product 
  • Creating user stories, sitemaps, wireframes, prototypes and storyboards 
  • Testing
  • Works with the designer and content writer to maintain product branding consistency 
  • Works with designer to develop pleasing and consistent user interface (UI) 

 

Content Writer:

  • Writing, managing, and editing written content on various digital platforms,  such as websites, blogs, social media, email marketing, etc. 
  • Writing ad and marketing copy
  • Creates marketing materials (digital and hard copy) 
  • Writes and manages written digital content that is “on brand”. 
  • Works with Account Manager to design and implement SEO, branding, and marketing strategies
  • Works with designer to manage visual content

 

Designer: 

  • Responsible for translating the clients “brand” message into visual material–ie, logos, design elements, color palette, typography, layout (spacing, hierarchy, patterns, etc) and visual content 
  • User Interface: how the digital product “looks” and behaves.. Decides the appearance buttons, links, and other features that the user will interact with and also decides how they will behave. 
  • Works with the ux designer on prototypes and wireframing

 

Developer: (Fulll Stack)

 

  • Coding the layout and content developed by the designe
  • Optimizing web pages
  • Validating and testing code 
  • Testing code/layout on various devices (pc’s, tablets, and phones)
  • Confirming product consistency across all browsers 
  • Executing SEO strategy 
  • Database creation and management
  • Server Side programming 
  • Backend frameworks 
  • Content Management and maintenance
  • Security
  • Data reporting
  • Backing up and restoring files and databases

    You’ve done a good job of listing the tasks for the roles that you have. What about the tasks for roles that you don’t have? They need to be assigned to someone.

    Your RACI chart – each task must have someone that is R – someone whose responsibility it is to do it.
